THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ZLECAF

1.1 OBJECTIVES OF STAKEHOLDERS:

The development of intra-African trade is dependent on local development. The impetus for the ZLECAF comes from the decisions of entrepreneurs and local communities.

It is important that the main protagonists take a visible responsibility in the establishment of the ZLECAF. Unlock the economic potential of regions to accelerate the economic and social integration policies and strategies of the continent;

Adequate infrastructure, qualified human resources, institutional framework, and incentivizing taxation: conditions for success.

Morocco is initiating a dynamic in this regard, and ASMEX is a key player in it.

1.2 AMBITIOUS OBJECTIVES:

A promising single market

  • 97% of tariffs: elimination of customs duties over a short period. 90% of the tariffs: elimination of customs duties on certain products.

Intra-African Trade by 2045

  • +49% agri-food products and services. +35.7% industry. 6 out of 10 of the fastest-growing economies in the world would be African.

1.3 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES :

  • Promotion and achievement of inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development (gender equality and structural transformation).
  • Strengthening the competitiveness of the economies of the member states.
  • Promotion and industrial development through diversification and the development of regional value chains - agriculture and food security.
  • Resolving the challenges of belonging to multiple overlapping organizations within regional economic communities. (CER).
  • Acceleration of regional and continental integration processes. Stimulation of exports. Exploitation of natural competitive advantages.
  • Investments in infrastructure.

  • Creation of an integrated and liberalized single market for goods and services.

  • Strengthening Africa's commercial position in global markets.
  • Bringing the AfCFTA closer to the ground.
  • Insight into the opportunities offered by the AfCFTA.
  • Advice to operators on tools to better understand the issues.
  • Promotion of the advantages of the AfCFTA for exporting companies or those wishing to become exporters.
  • Drive for business growth towards identified markets.
  • Facilitation of the integration of African economies in order to increase economic self-sufficiency.
